Handling pressurised tyres
Pressurised tyres must always be handled with care and caution. Before detaching a wheel from the vehicle or machine, you must always make sure that you can do this safely.
Deflating the tyre before detaching is recommended. Deflating the tyre is especially necessary if there is reason to suspect that the rim has become defective.
In addition, the tyre must always be deflated in the following cases:
- Overloaded tyre
- Two-part rims
- Defective tyre or rim
- Machine wheels.
Moving tyres with a special tool
The use of special tools is recommended when moving heavy wheels. The tools prevent the wheel from tipping over and enable easy and safe mounting of the wheel on the vehicle or machine.Moving tyres manually
If you must move tyres manually, you must always handle the wheel from behind (in relation to the direction of movement). This is particularly important with large tyres. If the wheel tips over, you must move away quickly to avoid it falling on you. An earthmoving machine tyre weighs more than 500 kg, so it is impossible to hold it upright with your body strength alone.
