Nokian Heavy Tyres Ltd, a manufacturer of high-quality special tyres, is a part of the Nokian Tyres Group. The company focuses on narrow product segments. It is known as a pioneer in special tyres, particularly in the field of forestry tyre development. The company has a global market share of 30% in forestry tyres.In addition to forestry tyres, Nokian Heavy Tyres' core products include harbour and mining tyres, special agricultural tyres, as well as other machinery tyres, e.g. for industrial use, earth moving and road maintenance. Nearly all of the products are manufactured at the plant in Nokia, Finland.
Since the 1960s, Nokian Heavy Tyres has designed special tyres for forestry machines using the so-called cut-to-length (CTL) method developed in the Nordic countries. Thanks to its environmental friendliness, the CTL method is quickly gaining ground from the full-tree (FT) method, which is used, for example, in South America, Asia and parts of North America.
